Expansion Joints for Styrene Moderization Project - 2006-10-10

Although not new to Styrene expansion joints and piping networks, Expansion Joint Systems/EJS Asia Pacific has recently seen an increase in their demand over the past few years. These expansion joints incorporate solution annealed 800H bellows to accommodate extremely high temperature (over 1400F /760°C) without refractory. Floating hardware, a unique feature of styrene expansion joints, incorporates a ¼”/.635 cm gap between the hardware and the pipe to isolate the heat generated from the high temperature media flowing through the system. This design accom-modates the thermal expansion and high pressures (over 75psig/5 kg/cm2) seen in this application while protecting the expansion joint’s required hardware. Expansion Joint Systems, Inc. (EJS) is proud to have had the opportunity to recently work with a leading engineering company on the Modernization Project for a major petrochemicals refinery. EJS designed and manufactured a total of (24) expansion joints including several hinged and gimbal
